Piddle when you giggle?

December 15, 2017

Maybe you think that it’s an inevitable outcome of having babies or ageing? It’s not.  It’s all to do with the strength and resilience of your pelvic floor.  Having a weak pelvic floor can mean incontinence and even bowel problems.  Factors that can lead to pelvic floor weakness are many and varied but include:

  • Lifestyle

  • Obesity

  • Posture

  • Lack of transverse muscle function

  • Poor breathing mechanics

  • Menopause

  • Childbirth

  • Diastasis recti

  • Injury

  • Smoking

  • Infections

  • Constipation

Because problems with the pelvic floor affect so many people, it is becoming increasingly 'normal' to have to wear bladder pants.  Problems in this area do not just disappear: Education on how to strengthen, relax and protect this precious muscle group is needed to manage or even resolve issues.
